Happy Earth Day from all of us at Rowe! Although we are committed to eco-friendly manufacturing year-round, this time of year always allows us to stop and reflect on just what exactly that means. After all, spring is a time of renewal — and nothing says renewal like quality custom furnishings manufactured with materials that are friendly to the Earth. As part of our EcoRowe initiative, Rowe is proud to announce a brand new partnership with Breathe by Milliken ™ performance fabrics, an innovative collection of textiles featuring all-natural fibers. Our priority is not only to add beauty and joy to people’s lives but to keep our world green and beautiful as well.

Why Rowe Loves Breathe by Milliken ™

  • Keeping it Green – Breathe fabrics are a collection of unique, eco-elegant performance fabrics.
  • Friendly for the Whole Family – These plant-based fabrics offer durable construction and natural liquid repellency, making them an excellent choice for families.
  • Sustainable Materials – Sustainably designed using natural or recycled fibers and a remarkable plant-based liquid repellent.
  • Perfect Fit – Breathe fabrics are pre-washed and shrunk for a soft, breathable touch, ideal for both slipcovered and fully upholstered products.

Sustainability is quickly becoming such an essential factor for our retailers and designers. Every day, consumers are becoming more knowledgeable and eco-conscious in their purchasing decisions. It’s only natural that this mindset extends to purchases for the home, where consumers are often looking to create a harmonious environment. It was this thinking that drew us to the Breathe line of performance fabrics. The fact that these plant-based performance fabrics are also pre-washed and pre-shrunk is perfect for our ever-growing assortment of slipcover style options. The selection of Breathe fabrics offered by Rowe features all-natural fiber content, which means that they will soften with time & use, creating an increasingly beautiful organic look even after washing.

Rowe chose to partner with Milliken™ because, as companies, we share highly similar values. We are both committed to providing a quality, socially conscious product, and know that mindful consumers will breathe a little easier with these all-in-one eco-friendly performance solutions.

Eco Friendly Fabrics

Go Green with Rowe

With the launch of the EcoRowe initiative, our company took a firm stand in favor of eco-friendly manufacturing processes and sustainable product development. The inspiration behind this program took shape as we looked at how we were responding to sustainability in our own lives, challenging ourselves to make adjustments to be more responsible and Earth-friendly. With this in mind, EcoRowe centers around a selection of plant-based Breathe performance fabrics, the choice of two eco-friendly seat cushion cores, and the use of sustainably harvested wood. At Rowe, we relate to our customers and consider them an extension of ourselves. After all, if these values are important to us personally, then they are essential to our customers as well.

What’s Inside

We’re green inside and out! Each custom piece of Rowe furniture is made from the following eco-friendly materials:

Sustainable Wood Frames

Our wooden frames are domestically harvested and meet the high standards of the Sustainable Forestry Initiative® They are precision-milled and held together using mortise and tenon or double dowel and corner block construction.

Arm Cardboard

Created using 100% recycled paperboard.

Foam Cushions

Our foam contains plant-based, renewables which replace significant amounts of petroleum-based materials used in standard cushions. Also, the foam is PBDE free and is manufactured without the use of any flame retardants.

Down Blend Cushion Construction

Our down blend cushions use a combination of partially plant-based high-resiliency foam with recycled plastic bottle fiber and a blend of duck feather and down. The cotton ticking used to encase the feather and down is no longer bleached.

Our springs are produced from recycled iron ore, and our nails are uncoated, using a water-based lubricant.
