Even as our spring market season wrapped up, we began looking ahead to fall and beyond; current trends and insight from market (along with inspiration from our travels!) always open our eyes to exciting new possibilities for Rowe Furniture.
So, what’s new now? In general, we are seeing color go bolder, with an emphasis on high contrast. Nowhere can this trend be seen better than in our featured showroom trend based on casual sophistication. Centered around laid back comfort and soft textures, this look also delivers high impact contrast and chic style, in the bold, deep hues of 2018.

Our in-house design team initially drew inspiration for this collection from social media. Recently we spotted a trend in interiors featuring high contrast palettes, and we were really attracted by the sophistication that it created when applied to casual, breezy spaces inspired by “low country” style. Midnight blue is one of our designers’ favorite tones to play with in these palettes, or else a deep forest green contrasted against crisp whites for maximum pop.
Earlier in 2018 we also saw a greater emergence of this casual furniture trend, not only contrasting in color but in materials. There is endless possibility for creativity here–matching up casual furniture with case goods that have black exteriors and white interiors, for example, or using pieces that feature a polished element alongside a raw element. An approach we took in our Spring 2018 showroom featured smooth walls and floors contrasted with textured shiplap walls and extensive woodwork/crown molding. The fabrics we chose for this lifestyle are soft textures and lovely washed cottons, as well as casual stripes that echo classic ticking for a welcoming and homey feel.

Another new intro, the Evie Bench from Robin Bruce, possesses a lovely, classic shape that has been subtly modernized, and a rich matte black/iron finish which adds a nice touch of contrast to any space. Finally, the curvaceous lines of the Brampton Chair by Robin Bruce invites guests to relax and enjoy social gatherings in this casually sophisticated setting.
